Designer Masanori Morikawa from Japan founded his brand Christian Dada in 2010. In 2011 he made several custom-made pieces for Lady Gaga for the MTV Video Music AID Japan Awards, had several runway shows in Tokyo and Paris.

I visited the latest Christian Dada fashion show Spring/Summer 17 held in Palace de Tokyo during the Paris Men Fashion Week and took some pictures at the runway show. Designer presented some items with messages such as “The World is wrong”, “Burn this cloth after you have wear it”, “I wear black on the outside cause black is how I feel on the inside” and others.

Masanori Morikawa about the SS17 Men collection: “Actually the primary special words are thinking about life and death. My inspiration came from things that have happened throughout the world recently like the earthquake and terrorism too. I saw the Yoko Ono exhibition in Japan and I was really touched by it, also by poetry and a certain attitude and then I mixed that with a paradox of military items for the piece, so I did that for the collection. I was inspired by military items, not everyone takes uniforms and mixes them up but I did a Japanese detailed technique on them mixed with a Europe style. The shoes are inspired by what the Germans wore but I mixed them with espadrilles, a Spanish influence”.
